Re: break light fail message

My 1998 328is developed the break cuircuit failure message, which 
disappeared on turning off the car and restarting.  This is a bit like 
some of the Windows messages, except that, at least it doesn't say 
that the system must be shut down.  Service department says its 
common and due to the actuator switch on the break pedal.  Further, 
they say some BMW models have been recalled for this problem, 
but not all, even though they all use the same switch.  You may 
want to review this with your service department and see if they will 
cover it as part of a recall.
