Don't worry about it.
1 quart/1K miles is more then average, but well within BMW's 1 quart/600
miles limit for NEW engines.
If there are any oil leaks (and there may well be with your mileage),
consider fixing those. Though I bet the leaks are a small part of the oil
consumption. Start worrying only IFF the oil consumption is increasing over
time.

Your ($20) blower resistor pack is shot.
A very simple DIY fix described in the Bentley manual. You do have a Bentley
(http://www.rb.com/) E36 manual, don't you?

This is the one that may get expensive.
I haven't had to troubleshoot my E36 sunroof yet (knock on wood), but in the
worst case you will be shopping for a new ~$1K sunroof cassette. Hopefully
some other digester or the E36 Bentley will be of some help on the subject.
