Dane, I read an article in Popular Mech 6/00: Car care tip about removing tree sap. They said to use Pine-Sol or turpentine. Apparently these products are derived from Pine trees, so fight fire with fire. Pine-Sol being better for a small job. It said nothing of hurting your paint or clear-coat.
