newbie - supercharger ?

Just wanted to say hello.  I'm the newbie :)

I do have a question though,,, (being new) I was checking out the
dinanbmw.com site and they talk about supercharger kits.  I was under the
impression that superchargers and higher compression motors (10.0 or above)
didn't work to well.  Are they rebuilding the motor to a lower compression?
How is this done, and the motor is still streetable??
