my girlfriend had the same problem with her alpine cd changer in our '94 325is. my main prob was to keep the crazy girl from touching the cd changer! but try inserting a cartridge with no cd's in there and it should automatically slide into one of the empty slots. if that doesn't work unplug the DIN plug and replugging it so it'll reset itself.
