325e compressor question

Hi. I'm considering buying an 85 325e with 121K miles. My concern is the
A/C system leaks badly. The owner said he had to recharge it about every 2
months. I believe the shaft seal on the compressor is leaking just 'cause
it's wet there. My question is: Can the seal be replaced seperately or will
a new compressor be in order? TIA
