How to test the fuel regulator

I read on one of the digests about someone trying to see if their fuel
regulator was bad or not. Can anyone
give me some help on this? I disconnected the vacuum line to the FR &
find that my '92 535i runs better. I
don't have the slight hesitation, as I call it, when accelerating, but I
don't necessarily feel the same power
that I had. Now I need to know if the fuel regulator is the problem or
not.
