Hi all!
I rarely post to the group, but I thought I'd just drop by and let you all
know that I have restored my '88 635csi's blower and temp controls. I used
some information off of the Big Coupe Groupe's web site (found at
www.bmwcca.org) to fix the blower. It entailed removing the cowl cover,
removing the heater blower, and replacing a transistor on a bracket mounted
inside the passenger side duct... (email me if you would like the full
procedure). Therefore restoring my blower control from an "OFF" or "FULL
BLAST" deal, to full range speed. VERY NICE. Also, had to work on some
wiring for the interior temperature sensor. That made my temperature knob
change from "COLD AS HELL" or "HOT AS HELL" to the normal full range
operation.
All in all, about 2 hours time on the car. I've owned my E24 for 3.5 years
now, and known how to fix these problems for about 1.5 - 2yrs. now (thanks to
this list and the E24 list), but I just took 2 hours of my time, and did the
work. It's so rewarding, and I'm hitting myself on the head for not sitting
down and just doing hte work. It makes the Bimmer just THAT MUCH more fun to
drive.
So for all of you out there that are having some of the same problems with
the blower and such, go for it... Just do it, and if you need any help, email
me, or check out some FAQs!!! Long live my E24. Thanks to all, and thanks
for being BMW owners. BMW is one of the best marques, and a good chunk of
that has to do with the owners. Happy driving!
