Tire Suggestions for '94 325IC

I'm in need of a new set of tires and was a little shocked to learn that
replacement tires for the factory installed 225/55 15 Michelin Pilots (V
rated) will cost nearly $900.00.
I would appreciate any suggestions/experiences with alternative tires and
possibly slightly different sizes for this car - thanks
