spark plugs 325e

I'm a fairly new BMW owner and have a question regarding the best and most 
reasonably priced spark plug (quoted $7.50 at local dealer) for my 1984 325e.

I will be doing a tune up (replacing all the filters, fluids, plugs etc.) 
fairly soon and would like some advice regarding spark plugs.

It would be great to enhance the performance of my engine, but I do not want 
to give up reliability or decrease gas mileage.
