<E36> 325/4 Rear door lock not working. .

All,

The rear door lock on the driver side no longer automatically 
locks/unlocks.  I get the same symptoms whether it is locked/unlocked with 
the key or by locking/unlocking by engaging the driver's door lock from the 
inside.

Suggestions??
