Porsche Rotors for Brake Upgrade Kits

Porsche sources most of its cross drilled rotors through SHW of Germany.
Many companies offer brake upgrade packages for Porsches and other cars
using larger 993 (or 993 turbo) cross drilled rotors with special
replacement hats with proper offset for each application.  In the past, one
could simply remove the cast iron hat from the factory rotors and bolt on
the adapter hat without problem.  Things have changed.

Without getting into the details of how SHW now trues and balances their
rotors (the new procedure eliminates a machining step), companies and
individuals using adapter hats on Porsche rotors will now have to true the
rotor assemblies before mounting them on their.  Without this step, runout
of .005-010" should be expected and this can easily be felt in the pedal
and steering wheel. SD
