Kim,
Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator or the vacuum line going to the
regulator? It sometimes will disconnect from the bottom of the intake
manifold, causing an increase of about 4-6 PSI, and although the performance
is good, it WILL drink gas. Also check for a leaking fuel injector - you can
pull the injector connector off whil running and you should have a noticable
change in smoothness if the injector is working correctly. You could also
clamp off the cold start injector and see (when it is warm) and see if it
starts to run better...
It should be one of the above, if not order the manual, or take it to a
reputable shop before damaging the converter.
