Try shifting to neutral while moving to disengage the gear box (in an open
road and carefully of course).
If the noise stays there no matter what you do with the gear box it's
probably a wheel bearing. If it changes while you play with the gears, may
be something on your transmission or clutch. In any case is never wise to
driver with something knowingly wrong (specially out of town), best case you
brake something else or make the problem worse....worse case well you may be
stranded or have an accident...so.  Take care.
