Retrofitting A/C into an E28

Fellow Bimmerphiles,

I am looking forward to hear your opinion. Situation:
I had an accident with my '85 E28 528i (my fault). Although the body
suffered only minor damage, the steering is pulling strongly to the left
side now. Minimum quote for repair of steering and suspension components was
1800 Deutschmark (1000 USD) which is very close to the actual value of the
car here in Germany !

So I am considering to give the car to the junkyard. However, I would like
to use the A/C in my '87 535i (no aircondition yet).

How difficult is it to retrofit AC to my 535i ? Is it a DIY job ?
How long would the install probably take ?
What parts of the AC system do I have to get out of my 528i ?
