A mixed bag tonight. First, I am planning to embark on replacement of the
transmission fluid in my 635's 4HP22EH autobox with synthetic. I know I
have to do this repeatedly to get all (or nearly all) of the old fluid out.
Question is, how much should I expect to remove/replace at one time?
Next up, I was wondering -- I've never finished tracking down my last
electrical gremlin, which has my aux fan not working right. I can jumper
two of the contacts on the dual temp switch and get the fan to run on high,
but jumpering the low speed contacts gets me nothing. I know I need to
spend the time to trace this, but I was wondering -- could a bad switch
cause this behavior?
Speaking of sublimely over-engineered; I was putting new pads/rotors on the
wife's 740il (E38) last weekend. The connectors for the brake pad wear
sensors, the ABS, etc, not only had the usual heavy rubber connectors, there
were also little sealed plastic boxes to house the rubber connectors. The
only way dirt, water, or anything else is going to get into those
connections is if you put it there. The only thing better than this, IMHO,
are the two little glass sight bubbles attached to the rear of each
headlight adjustment mechanism, so that you can be sure the car is level
when aiming the lights!
Finally, a net-impaired friend has asked me to help him sell his wheels.
Four 15x7 et18 Borbet Type H's (the five spoke kind). He bought them to
replace the TRX's on his 535, then traded the 5er in with the old TRX's
after these were used for one year. He says they're in excellent shape,
straight with no curb rash. I have these same wheels for the snow tires for
my 6er. Tire Rack sells them new for $135 each. He'd like to get $300 obo
for all four, plus shipping from Pittsburgh. If interested, email me and
I'll get you his phone number and any other particulars. Thanks.
