2002 turn signal light connection question

I have a '72 2002 that has a broken wire that goes to
the front turn signal light. The break occurred at a
little white plastic connector coming off the head
light wire loom.  the connector looks to be a wire
splice but I don't know if it has any other function.
Does it contain a resistor?  It has completely rusted
screws so I can't seem to replace it into the
connection.  Do I need to replace this or can I just
splice the free wires together?
