OT-MB 300E 5-speed

Greetings, all,

Please forgive the off-topic nature of this post. I'm on the hunt for a 
5-speed 735i (in the Northeast) for myself. A buddy of mine, a fellow manual 
trans junkie, recently bought an 87 Mercedes 300E with 5-speed. He's trying 
to find out (after the fact,) exactly what he's got. Can you help him? He's 
not online, so I'm the conduit for info. Please respond off-list.
