As discussed earlier, loss of sensor function can be an early sign of pedal
bracket failure. My cruise failed almost two years before the clutch pedal
finally fell off. Once I extracted the car from the pedal bracket, I paid
$25 CDN to get it welded.
I wouldn't leave the tape on the clutch switch. that sounds like a recipe
for engine failure: If you did stomp the clutch, the cruise would pull the
throttle...That's Bad.
Get your head back under the dash and take the tape off. Then flex the
clutch pedal around and find where the pedal bracket is cracked.Fix the
crack, not the switch.
