Tire Pressure Question

I recently put a new set of tires (B.F. Goodrich Comp T/A's) on my '90
535i.
The tire shop (very reputable) put 35 psi in all four. My owners
manual says to put in much less (29 up front and 32 in the rear -- or
something like that).
So which is best?
