Supercharger/turbocharger for 525i

Does anyone have experience with supercharger/turbocharger installation in a
525i? My 1991 525i has 87,000 miles on the engine, runs well but I would
like more power. I don't want to sell the 525 and upgrade to a 540.  What's
the impact on reliabilty of the engine, drivetrain components, drivability
for everyday street use, etc. Know any good manufacturers, or companies to
avoid? Is this a reasonable thing to consider on a car of this age? I am no
mechanic, just love to drive BMW cars.
