RE: A Dumb Question

In an overly-simplistic nutshell, a Dinan or Conforti
(or SuperSprint or BA or whatever) chip is an EPROM that
has had it's fuel and timing curves remapped for more
horsepower (instead of emissions or fuel economy). The
chip replaces the stock EPROM in the engine-management
system (Motronic in BMWs). For most performance chips,
you will need to use premium octane fuel instead of 87
octane unleaded. I just purchased a Conforti chip, and
I'll let the group know the results. (Primitive dyno-ing
with a friend's G-Meter will provide the quantitative
results). I'm pretty optimistic.
