<E30> Rust

What are the most common places for the E30 to rust? our 91 had a "flaky
patch in the trunk above the rear left taillight assembly - just where the
paint had flaked off a bit. It has none anywhere else and i hope it's going
to stay that way.
Did US models get a full rustproofing? (our is a Euro - here in New Zealand)
Also in the service booklet it mentions undersealing and rustproofing with
some of the inspections. Our 325i has a kind of rustproofer sprayed
EVERYWHERE... inside the hood cavities, the entire under side of the car has
PVC sprayed on, and the rustproofer in many ares, inside the door are done
with the rustproofer too.
This rustproofer in a golden yellow colour, and is very "waxy".
