2.5L Head Bolts?

Everyone, 

I have been reading some info on the e30net and am wondering about the head
bolts.  My engine has the original style head bolts, just the standard hex
head on them.  Understand that these style bolts are prone to breaking and
the torx bolts should be installed. 

My dad doesnt like the idea of replacing or having replaced the head bolts
on a 10 year old car with 122k on it for fear of warping the head or
breaking the seal which has been formed by the head and block over this
time period.

What should I do?  Is it safe to assume that since they havent broken yet,
and since the head is probably done seating itself on the engine at this
point, that I can run with the stock bolts???
