<e30> Brake warning light

After running for a few minutes the check engine light starts flashing.
I check the overhead warning panel, push the check button, and the brake
light stays on.

I've pulled out both light consoles in the trunk; they're okay.  Same
with the parcel shelf light.

Anyone have any clues??

Next:  Fixing the OBC backlight.  What fun....
