Rack and Pinion steering technical info. needed

OK< you gurus of steering, tell me how the INTERNAL GUTS of the Rack & Pinion 
work, regarding the hydrolic fluid pressure to each side.

I got a rack that is WEIRD. As you go down the road at speed, the thing 
"wanders", like (valeving?) inside the box is screwy. Alignment is perfect ( 
4 wheel). Not tire related. Nope, this is R&P related. Friggin car's got a 
mind of it's own.

Can the valveing screw up and cause fluid path to mess up?. Any and all 
information appreciated
