a (different) road trip

enthusiasts:
I am taking a road trip next weekend (May 28, 1999) from Portland to
Oakland. I am taking U.S. highway 5 south a ways to around Drain, OR at
which point I am cutting over to U.S. Hwy 101 down to U.S. Hwy 1. I know
this is the long way. I am purposely taking the scenic/route. I have
plenty of time. So, any suggestions? trouble spots or fun spots I should
anticipate? let me know those of you who have taken this route.
