It's in the genes, Bill.  If you don't believe
me, take a look at Wednesday's NY Times article
on car makers cashing in on so-called team cars:
"Special team cars are known in marketing-speak as
'halo' products because they are supposed to exude
a glow of excellence .... Scott Doniger, [BMW's] M marketring
manager, speaks, in all seriousness, of the ' M
gene.'"

Others on this list have said the "M" stands for
marketing.  Now you know better.
