   I don't think so.   Highway patrols use Fords instead of Mercurys
or Linlcons; or Chevys instead of Pontiacs or Cadillacs.   So I think
they would choose a 540i over a 7er, as they do in Bavaria.

   For a while, the CHP chose 5 liter Mustangs.   I supose the
equivalent would be to use M3s for patrol cars.  Now that would be
interesting :-).

   In some states, it is reported that the motorcycle part of the
highway patrol are buying BMW bikes.   So being stopped by an officier
driving a BMW is not out of the question.
