Chris,
The difference in M5 to 535i is size and caliper. The M5 uses 4 piston Brmbo
type and bigger rotors. Below is the info that Rob Lenison gave me.
Dinan/850 rotors: 324mm
E32: 302x28mm
E28 M5: 300x30mm (but with larger hats, therefore much less swept area)
The 850 came with 16" rims originally, 17" was a common option bu
unneccessary. BMW calipers are space-efficient and even though the
Dinan/850 units are Brembo, they are a similar design. The E32 brakes fit
under 15" rims.
The stock 535i brakes are I think ~260mmx28mm. Rob L. might have better info.
If I were you I'd go the E32 brakes. They bolt right up to the E28. E12 I
don't know about. There may be a problem with the ABS ribs and sensors for
the E32/E28 to E12 brakes. I would email Steve D'G and the Ultimate Garage,
