My '94 525i (M50), also at the 60k mark, started leaking from the
canister, as well, although my leak is between the canister and the
cover, at the 9 o'clock position (if 12 oclock is the front of the
car).  I've replaced gaskets 3-4 times, tried new filters, washers,
under torqueing, over torqueing (just a little), all to no avail.
Parts for the new canister are around $400 list, and I'm getting
closer and closer to just getting one.
