Lew -

A possible cause is filling the tank with the ignition
on.  Doing so confuses the computer in
some BMW's.  I believe the problem works out
after a few fills, but since I've not had the
problem myself, I'm not sure.  If the problem
persists, I'd suggest a visit to a dealer
for a fault check before changing parts.
