temp lights (e34)

It may not be exactly the same, but on my 92 525iT, with the normal rotary
knob temp controls, the lights went out too. I had it repaired when my car was
in for some other service. It was like  one hour labor and a couple bucks for
2 bulb "assemblies". i bet there is something similar for your M5 with the
auto climate control. THe bentley manual has nothing, as you may already know,
and this was really annoying in the dark.
