E30 autotrans question

I have a '91 325i @ 110K and I recently started experiencing a problem with
the automatic transmission. When the car is cold it does not want to shift
from 1st to 2nd. Within a mile or two it will shift just fine. The fluid and
filter were supposedly changed about a year ago. The fluid looks good
(pinkish/red) and does not smell bad. Any suggestions? The BMW dealer here
wants $40 for the filter and $120! for the fluid. Does this sound right? Any
recommendations on fluid and filter?

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
