<E28> Hartge rim/tire clearances

I just purchased Hartge rims (7.5x16 front/8.5x16 rear) for my 1985 
535i in order to get away from the TRX rims.  With rims and tires now 
mounted, I am concerned about clearances, especially the rear.  One 
can barely get the small finger between the tire and the lip of the 
wheel well fender.  If you press down on the car - get your finger 
out of the way!  A gap exists - but not much!

What clearance should I expect/have with 16" rims and tires?
