Try this...take the car out and "work" the brakes hard for say 20+ minutes (I
took mine up into the hills and pushed it). You don't need to push it to the
edge or anything like that, just use the brakes alot and get them hot.
I bought a 95 M3 (all stock) last year and took it to a one day "easy" event at
Buttonwillow (Central CA). Buttonwillow is not hard on brakes at all. The next
day, the car had "warped brakes." I was amazed! The one part of the car I wasn't
concerned about were the brakes.
I had new stock rotors/pads installed.
About a month later I took the car to a two day event at Laguna Seca. Laguna
Seca is very hard on brakes. After the event the car once again seemed to have
warped the rotors. But I was a little suspicious so I took the car up into the
hills and the next day the brakes were better. So, I took it up there again a
few days later. The got better still. Then after a week or so of normal street
driving the brakes were fine.
So my only theory is that the track events cause the pads (the stock ones
anyway) to deposit a film (for lack of a better description) on the rotor which
causes the rotor to give you that warped-rotors feel. I'm willing to bet the
first set of rotors I replaced from Buttonwillow were just fine.
Also, I ran a third event- a one day at Laguna Seca and the brakes did fine. I
ran better times than the previous two day Laguna Seca event.
So think about going out and driving the car hard and then see if it gets better
the next day. If it does- great. If it doesn't then all you did was beat up
rotors you will replace anyway.
