    "Aye"?

    The E24 6-series (both versions, early and late) share major mechanicals
and electrics with their contemporary 5-series.  In the US, there was no
1983 528i, just the 528e (different engine entirely) and 533i (same M30
engine, larger displacement).  For the most part, the systems between the US
and Euro cars are similar but you may find differences.  A 1983 533i manual
would still be of use to you in identify major parts.
