How to get rid of the unwanted

To get rid of someone from a list here are the things you should do, in
my opinion:

1.  Don't even read messages from them.  Delete them immediately.  Set
up a filter for the email address of the offender that trashes the
message once received.
2.  NEVER reply to a message the person sent to the digest.
3.  NEVER talk about the person in any message you post to the digest.
4.  NEVER send this person personal email.

Just pretend they do not exist, especially if what they post annoys you.
This is exactly why you should not even read messages from them.
Generally, when someone persistently posts something to a list, it is
for reasons of commercial gain.  A lack of response and attention from
us should result in a lack of marketing on their part.  One would assume
that this would lead to his/her departure from the group.
