<E46> First drive...

I drove an E46 for the first time.  It was a 5sp, 328i, without Sport
suspension.  My overriding impression was that someone took a lexus
and put roundels on it:  As compared to our 93 325is (without sport
suspension) the E46 was REALLY soft.  The suspension was too soft, the
steering was too light, and the engine too quiet.  I wouldn't buy
that car:  it has few of the qualities that sold us on BMW.  But I
still need to drive one with Sport suspension.  (Why are those wheels
17 x 8?  With 225 width tires?  Didn't the 95 M3 come with narrower
17 x 7.5's, and 235's?)
