E30 Euro Sport Air Bag Steering Wheel?
Q: Is there such a thing as a European E30 Sport Air Bag Steering
Wheel?
Q: What size is it (overall diameter), and is it leather?
Q: 3 Spokes or 4?
Q: How much do they cost (DM, Pounds, Euros, whatever - I can do the
conversion)? New, used, whatever.
Q: Are they compatible with U.S. E30 air bag triggering mechanisms
(impact sensors, etc.) and steering columns?
I ask these questions for several reasons:
1. The U.S. air bag wheel on my E30 has a larger overall diameter than I
like.
2. The upper spokes are too high, i.e. at about 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock
(assuming a 12 hour clock), instead of at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock, where
they belong for proper, sporting driving.
3. When I removed my wheel (3 times!) to replace (twice!) the turn signal
switch, I cross-threaded one of the 2 nuts and screws that hold the air
bag / horn pad onto the wheel. It is now on there securely, but it rattles
a bit. I could fix it with parts from a U.S. air bag steering wheel, but then
I'd still have the same wheel that I don't much like.
So, if a Euro wheel exists, will work properly and solves all my problems,
I'd rather buy one than fix the wheel I've already got. If any of you know
the answers, please let me know.
Hey, what kind of steering wheels do you Canadians get up there? Euro
or U.S.?
As always, TIA for any help with this.
