Howdy,
Not really relevant to BMW's but I came across this. I don't know how legit
it is but it looked kind of interesting.

As far as mandatory BMW content -- Last night I got home and while unloading
my car got distracted by my son and realized several hours later that I had
left my car unlocked. I went outside to lock up and when I locked the
doors, they would immediately unlock. I tried several times and then
stopped, remembering that I could do damage if I kept trying over and over.
I was just about ready to disconnect the battery, lock the doors manually
and troubleshoot the problem later because it was freezing out and I just
wanted to go back inside and go to bed when I decided to check the
passengers lock. The passengers lock was frozen up and it took a lot of
effort to physically push it locked. Once I locked the passengers door
manually everything locked up just fine.
