Old E34 CD Changers
Phil Marx is correct the Pioneer CDX M30 will work. You can find Phil's
information at:
http://www.eskimo.com/~dalus/bmw/all/stereo/all_cd_changer_info.html
I have a 1990 and 1991 535i. The 1991 came with a factory installed
Alpine head unit/radio/CD changer. The 1990 had a Pioneer KE83zbm head
unit/radio and no changer. I purchased a Pioneer CDX M30 changer from
Speed & Sound Electronics Corp. - 6305 Avenue N - Brooklyn, NY 11234 -
(1-800-6476863) -
(http://www.speedsound.com/PIONEER.htm). No problems with this company,
prompt shipping. (BEST PRICE)
You must run a new data cable supplied with the changer. You will need
to make a mounting plate or buy a factory mount. I think a friend of
mine may have a used bracket if he has not sold it. I found this out
after making mine. Unit works great! Your car should have a "mode"
button. (Pioneer) The Alpine units have a "prog" button.
This should be your unit, unless someone has replaced the unit with an
older or newer BMW radio. You can pull the radio to make sure.
KE83zbm (Pioneer) 89-93 E30,E34 CDX-M30 ("M" series) No
adapter needed, Must run new data cable supplied with the changer.

This changer will work with some Alpine units, but you must also
purchase an adapter. Crutchfield has the adapter. (See site address
below)
You may take a look at the following web sites.

( Very good company, a little higher price, can be trusted.)
Hope this helps, I can supply more information on installation if you
buy the CDX M30.
Sincerely,
