E28 Amplifier? And some weiner dog performance!

I just installed a cd player in my 85 535i.  I guess I have to run wires,
because I don't feel like trying to wire up the stock amp.  But anyway, for
the sake of losing a pound of weight (my car needs a major diet!)  Where
exactly is the amp?  I just barely looked around for it today and couldn't
find it?  Is it in the trunk?  Thanks!
