There is little point in just replacing the outer ball joint if you are
forced to remove the entire arm, you may as well change the arm. I don't
think the inner ball joints are available any more. However, with the
appropriate tools, the outer balljoint can be replaced on the car in
about 15 minutes.

Not if they aren't showing signs of wear.  The only time you would do
this is if you have a long trip ahead of you and are suspect of it's
condition.
