car related events?

in addition to attending o'fest '99 and some pca and bmw cca drivers' schools during 1999 (those within a one-day drive of 
omaha), i'm thinking about trying to attend some other car-related events during the august through december timeframe.  any 
suggestions from digest members on worthwhile activities?

suggestions received so far include petersen automotive museum in l.a.; barrett jackson auction in arizona; club racing and 
vintage car racing in various parts of the country.  does anyone have an idea of how easy or difficult it is to get tickets 
for these events?
