The Euro 528i has a different engine altogether. You can duplicate the engine
with some select US/Euro parts.
1. Use a 524td crankshaft they are forged not cast like the "e" crank...an
"e"crank will not take the high rpm and they have tendency to break if you use
them in a high rpm engine, like an "i" version.
2. Use the Euro 528i pistons for the compression.
3. Use a 325is head 87-91 they have the bigger valves like the Euro "i"
engine.
4. With a mild cam, headers, a high flow rate exhaust ( with a cat ), and a
new chip you should have no problem making a solid 200-220 hp. More power
with some other mods..
For a complete conversion you need a 325is transmission and the 3.73 diff.
This setup would make a real fun car.
Then again you could just go buy a e28 535 and skip all the above. The 535 has
182 hp stock and with a few mods 225hp is fairly easy.
