850 Purchase

Tom,

The 850 has some redeeming qualities but be aware of its shortcomings ($$):

1. The car is heavy and even the V12 in stock form has difficulty
motivating that mass.

2. The V12 will have some systematic problems over its lifetime:
          a) DK motor failure or flackyness.
          b) Failure of the intake manifold gaskets.
          c) Failure of the chain tensioner o-ring.
          d) Possible head bolt breakage (may have been fixed by MY'93).

3. Other failure points:
          a) Drive shaft.
          b) Hydraulic booster seal.
          c) Heater solenoids.
          d) Fuel tranfer and main pump.
          e) Thrust rod bushings go every 50- 60k miles.

Also, the engine bay is real crowded and will try your patience if you're a
DIYer.
Get the CSI brakes or the Brembo setup from Steve D'.
