Thanks for the recent bandwidth on an M3 take-offsuspension... Very

95 vs
97? Will Euro M3 springs work with U.S. M3 dampers?"

"Yoy may want to use some caution here. Whenever I have researched any
suspension issues for my 1992 E36, the vendors always ask "is the
production date pre 06/92 or 6/92 and beyond". I dont know why they
all ask this, but I assume something must be different on the very
early E36's. In other words, it is *possible* that the suspension
pieces designed for later E36's may not work on a pre 06-92 E36. Im
sure someone can elaborate on specifics."

I can tell you from personal experience that you need to be very careful
with the E36 '92 suspension. My car production date was 04/92. However,
when I ordered replacement springs and shocks based on the production
date, they would not work. I had to have the suspension for after 06/92.
I later discovered that during this time, BMW used the later production
dates suspension parts when they were short of the earleir parts. Of
course I had to pay the labor to remove and replace the old parts plus
air freight charges! Before you order, be sure which parts you have.
Good luck
