Auto Tranny - Why?

        I  replaced my auto tranny fluid and filter about 5000 miles ago.
Got the Mobil Synthetic Auto Fluid in it.  Funny thing is, when the tranny
heats up after a long drive, the shifts aren't that smooth anymore.  Does
the Mobil Synthetic Fluid suck or is my tranny retiring soon?  Shall I
replace the fluid again?  Please help.  My car's a 95' 320i Cabrio 5-Speed
Autobox with 55k miles.
