<E30> dead cruise control

On my recently aquired '91 M3, the cruise control that it has is dead.
Anyone know where I might start looking? The only clue I have is that
the cable around where the throttle cable is around the intake is bent
where it goes into the housing. I don't know much about this stuff
but I try to do things myself. Any thought would be very welcomed.
